WHAT CAUSES CONCRETE TO SINK?

Concrete can sink due to several reasons:
1. Settlement: Over time, the soil beneath the concrete may settle or compact unevenly, causing the concrete to sink into the gaps created.
2. Erosion: Water erosion can wash away the soil beneath the concrete, creating voids and leading to sinking.
3. Poorly Compacted Soil: If the soil wasn't properly compacted before pouring the concrete, it can settle and create voids, causing the concrete to sink.
4. Freeze-Thaw Cycles: In regions with freezing temperatures, water can penetrate the concrete, freeze, expand, and then thaw, weakening the concrete and causing it to sink.
5. Underground Leaks: Leaking water or sewage pipes can wash away soil beneath the concrete, leading to settlement and sinking.
6. Tree Roots: Tree roots can grow underneath the concrete, displacing the soil and causing it to sink.
7. Improper Installation: If the concrete was not installed correctly or the sub-base was poorly prepared, it can lead to sinking.
To prevent concrete sinking, it's important to address these underlying issues and maintain proper drainage and soil compaction during installation.
